Designed by Sand Studios in San Francisco, CA was chosen as the winner of
the 19th Annual Will Ching Design Competition, which honors outstanding
commercial design by firms of five or fewer individuals. “Innovation and Excellence in Design were at the cornerstone of the winners of this year’s IDC/WC awards,” stated IIDA President, Viveca Bissonnette, IIDA, Assoc. AIA, CID, LEED AP, who oversaw the judging process. “A wide range of diversity in the design projects submitted by the IIDA Membership and by international design firms was reflected in the almost 400 entries that were received from around the globe in all areas of practice.”
Judges for the distinguished competition included Anita Barnett, FIIDA; Carl D’Aquino of D’Aquino Monaco; Stanford Hughes, IIDA, of Brayton & Hughes Design Studio; and David Grout of Garry Lee Partners. The judging took place February 26, 2011 in Chicago.
All winning projects not previously published will be featured in the NeoCon issue of Interior Design magazine. The judges’ selection for Best of Competition will be officially revealed and all winners will be celebrated at COOL, the IIDA NeoCon Gala to be held Sunday, June 12 in the Grand Ballroom at the Westin Chicago River North.
